R.S. Whiteside is a retired control systems engineer who attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and the Technische Hoschschule in Karlsruhe, Germany.

He has spent many years studying the subject of human evolution, especially the evolution of human consciousness. Evolution in Form and Consciousness is his first published book.

The author lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, Anne.
